COMMAND

Command provides an open architecture which harnesses the power of a flexible panel language, powerful REXX procedures and simple to use automation rules.

Command features two major components: Sys Manager and Automation Manager. These are available separately to address specific z/OS® requirements but integrate fully to provide a more advanced solution:

Any z/OS installation can be run more efficiently and effectively, without increasing staffing levels or budget.

It improves system availability and reliability by managing and automating operations.

It ensures consistent, timely responses to messages and problems.

Command Technical Features

Sys Manager

Sys Manager is a menu-driven online system which can be accessed from any z/OS console (including the master console), TSO, ISPF, and VTAM®. Sys Manager can replace the normal operator console by providing a sophisticated operator interface and a window into the z/OS system, for all data centre staff. A full set of panels and commands is provided to enable users to replace SDSF with Command.

Automation Manager

Automation Manager is an expert-systems-based rule processor which supports three types of rules: message, scheduled and command. Automation Manager also supports SAA-compliant REXX, enabling the most complex tasks to be automated. Automation procedures can be developed and tested simply and securely using Automation Manager's extensive online displays.

QuickStart

QuickStart is a 'ready to use' application which automates many common operational procedures and provides immediate benefits from the moment Command is installed.

QuickView

QuickView is a set of working procedures and related online displays which give a graphical representation of system status information. This includes the QuickView System Monitor which displays the status of all critical sub-systems, including z/OS, CICS® and TSO on a single screen.

Open Architecture

Command is more than an advanced 'rules' processor. Its open architecture design enables new automation procedures and online displays to be created by using flexible panel language, powerful REXX procedures and simple to use automation rules.
